The brief called for an off-grid cabin in the woods that could potentially be suitede to several different sites, each located in the shadow of Wollumbin/Mt Warning.

The cabin is designed to accommodate a couple while they build their forever home on their rural property, after which the cabin may become a romantic rural weekend rental.

The pavilion is elevated on slender steel posts, allowing it to adapt to the uneven ground conditions and to minimise environmental impact.

The material palette is stripped down to timber, steel, glass, and aluminium, with charred external cladding that allows the building to disappear into the landscape visually.

The key conceptual drivers were: connection to nature, ensuring thermal comfort in both winter and summer, practicality for daily use, and minimising impact on the site.
